Copy Editor – Sports

The Missoulian, in beautiful Western Montana, is seeking a copy editor/paginator for sports. This person needs to be able to edit stories for clarity, content and style, write accurate and compelling heads and also needs to be able to design pages that will grab the attention of readers.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a similar area with work experience on a daily or weekly newspaper. A passion for sports in general is imperative. Missoula, and Western Montana, are sports-crazy areas – fans enjoy one of the country’s top 1-AA college football programs at the University of Montana, and there’s always plenty of other sports, from rodeo to minor-league baseball, to cover. Qualified candidates must have the ability to work under deadline pressure and work well in a team. Additionally we are looking for someone who demonstrates a high sense of accuracy and attention to detail. Solid computer skills (primarily Quark Xpress) are necessary.

Days and hours of work would be Tuesday-Saturday, 3 p.m.-midnight.
