University FACULTY POSITIONS DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICAL
SCIENCES The United Arab Emirates University invites applications of outstanding candidates for two faculty positions in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The University Founded in 1977, the UAE University is the oldest and largest university in the United Arab Emirates, with its campuses for men and women located in Al-Ain. The Universitys vision is to become an internationally distinguished comprehensive research university. More than 13,000 students are enrolled in the Universitys ten colleges. The University offers a broad array of undergraduate degree programs and a selected number of masters programs. The University has over 3,300 faculty and staff serving students in Colleges of: Business and Economics (accredited by AACSB), Engineering (substantial equivalency by ABET), Education (recognized by CQAIE), Sciences (accredited by CCS for Chemistry Dept), Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Food and Agriculture, Information Technology, Law, and Sharia & Islamic Studies. Graduate level programs include Environmental Science, Material Science and Engineering, Water Resource Science, MBA, Remote Sensing and GIS, Petroleum Science, Civil Eng., Electrical Eng, Mechanical Eng, Engineering Management, Education, Public Law, Private Law, and International Trade Law. The University is also seeking institutional accreditation with one of the United States regional associations. The United Arab Emirates is known for its rapid growth and for the open and tolerant society which has resulted from that growth. Al-Ain city is an oasis of natural landscapes, 70 beautiful parks, and numerous date palm farms, about an hour and a half drive from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Opportunity The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for two full-time faculty positions to begin Spring 2009 at the assistant, associate or professor level. Applicants in all mathematics areas are invited to apply. Successful candidates should have University teaching experience and strong English communication skills. Candidates must have a PhD in mathematics and are expected to be able to teach throughout the undergraduate curriculum. Successful candidates must demonstrate a dedication and commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
