Vice President of Human Resources

The University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President of Human Resources. Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Administration, the Vice President provides strategic leadership in all facets of human resources management as it pertains to non-faculty staff in all components of the University and its branches.

 

The University of New Mexico is the state’s flagship institution.  Its faculty conducts transformational research and provides world-class education to more than 36,000 students.  Students are taught in an environment enriched by research activities and graduate study. The Carnegie Foundation classifies UNM as one of 96 U.S. public and private universities with very high research activity.

The Vice President of Human Resources directs the component activities of the University’s Human Resources Department, ensuring that all HR programs and initiatives are integrated and effective in supporting the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the institution. The holder of the position directly participates in institutional planning and decision making as a member of the University’s Executive Cabinet, and provides broad administrative leadership and coordination to the University Administration Division as designated by the Executive Vice President for Administration.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; or Master’s degree in a related field and 5 years of executive level management experience.
