Assignment:
The University
recognizes the need to develop and implement a
more strategic approach to the advancement and
support of its human capital in context with its
mission and management values. This position
provides leadership in all transactional and
strategic functions of human resource development
at the University. The successful candidate will
be responsible for the strategic and tactical
implementation of leading edge organizational
development and human resources initiatives and
solutions while preserving the University's
culture. The position participates in the
University's strategic planning, budgetary, and
management processes. This position reports to
the Vice President for Administration and
Finance.
The successful
candidate will lead the development and delivery
of core HR functions including talent sourcing,
selection and retention, performance and
succession management, talent development, HR
policies, processes and procedures, employee
relations, and compensation; Manage the delivery
of organizational development and HR initiatives,
programs and services to drive employee
engagement and reinforce a strong performance
culture; Establish global leadership and talent
development practices, and to ensure a robust
pipeline of leadership candidates across the
University. The candidate will also partner with
component and department heads to implement
organizational change related to human resources
development in an effort to enhance the work
climate and employee quality of life; Act as a
strategic partner and coach for operations,
senior management and functional teams by
aligning HR Strategies and processes with the
strategic, management, and financial practices of
the University; Assess and improve existing
compensation strategies; Develop and implement a
wide range of organizational development programs
and functions to reinforce the University's
values and support the achievement of Vision
2012; Expand the human resources information
systems including Banner and PeopleAdmin; and
perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
with at least nine (9) years of experience or
Masters degree with at least six (6) years
of experience in any of the following areas:
organizational development, human resources
management, industrial/organizational psychology,
administration and supervision, or related areas.
The above experience must include at least three
years as a senior human resources administrator
preferably at the college or university level.
Preferred qualifications include PHR, SPHR or
GPHR certification. Proven track record of
performance and accomplishments in the areas to
be managed; A high degree of demonstrated
computer literacy, including operation and
maintenance of computerized human resources
management systems; Excellent oral and written
communications; Experience with union contracts
and labor negotiations preferred; High levels of
motivation and effective organizational and
supervisory skills; Demonstrated competency in
human relations with a working understanding of
emotional intelligence; Demonstrated experience
in alternative dispute resolution; Ability to
work effectively with people from diverse
educational and cultural backgrounds
Compensation:
Rank and
compensation will be commensurate on experience
and qualifications. Benefits include a generous
TIAA-CREF or the VI Government Retirement Plan,
as well as, a comprehensive group medical,
dental, and life insurance program.
Travel
And Shipping:
If applicable,
one-way economy airfare to St. Thomas for
appointee and immediate family and an agreed upon
amount based on policy for shipping allowance
will be paid by the University upon presentation
of receipts.
